6.  What if a stranger should want to see my home?

Unless you plan on selling to a relative or neighbor, you most likely will be showing your home to many persons you don't know and have never seen before.  Use common sense when fielding phone calls from strangers about your fsbo.  Ask for their number so you can call them back.  If a woman or children are home alone, either let the answering machine record the caller info or make an appointment for a time you feel more secure.  Buyers agents will call before coming but buyers without agents will just come up to your door and ask to come in and look around.  It's your home and your safety!  If you are uncomfortable for any reason, tell them to come back later or arrange in advance with a neighbor to come over immediately when you call should you have unexpected buyer visits. 

If you are uncomfortable showing your home to strangers, perhaps you are not a good candidate for selling your home yourself.  In this case, discuss other options with your FSBO-El Dorado agent.
